Sweetbreeze Kennel was founded by John & Cindy Garcia in 1985 out of a deep love for the GOLDEN RETRIEVER breed. We strive to own, show, and breed Goldens that adhere to the American Kennel Club (AKC), standard for a Golden Retriever.

Goldens possess a keen nose, a soft mouth, and a sharp eye making them very good retrievers. Also, Goldens are easy to train and make wonderful members of the family whether you compete with your dog or just enjoy their companionship.
Sweetbreeze kennel is located in the Golden foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, approximately 11 miles from where James Marshall originally discovered Gold in California. Tucked in the Cool hills on 4 acres is where we have been since 1989.
A little about how I started showing Goldens: I bought my first pet Golden Retriever in 1978, and named him Nakia. Nakia was an intelligent Golden with a very gentle nature.
I trained Nakia in obedience classes and we had great fun. He shared our lives for 12 wonderful years until a siezure took him in the night and I still miss him very much.
Ch. Penny puppy boys
I knew I was sold on the breed and needed an other Golden, but this time I wanted a conformation show dog so I contacted Ellen Manke of Amberac Golden Retrievers. Ellen & I became instant dear friends and I have had the honor of owning several very nice show dogs from Ellen's kennel over the past 20+ years.
Two of my foundations females Sadee (Ch. Amberac Whadda Lady) and Breezy (BISS Am. Can. Ch. Amberac's Hootshe Kootshe) were a tribute to Ellen's sucessful breeding program and I was the lucky person on the other end of the lead having so much fun with both these wonderful Golden Gals.
Now Penny (Ch. Sweetbreeze's Lucky Penny) and her sister Shammy (Sweetbreeze's Lucky Shamrock) are producing well at Sweetbreeze. You'll see all these Gals, and the Golden boys that I have bred here on my web site. It's a labor-of-love; I do all my own grooming, training, and handling in the ring, and during other AKC events.
